Belfast born Artist and photographer
I am a photographic artist with a passion for the built environment, focusing on the beautiful and diverse built landmarks from around the world. My work is more than just a tourist memory snapped, I map landmark buildings and locations in minute detail, then reconstruct them into a kaleidoscopic composition of pattern and colour creating a dynamic new way of seeing the world.
The miraculous is all around, all you have to do is look or know how to look,; my work is the ideal range for all types of hospitality venues globally. I draw my inspiration from places such as London, Paris, Florence, focusing on the landmarks we all know; highlighting the beauty in the detail which is often missed, creating spectacular intriguing compositions. Ideal for hospitality venues, hotel rooms, foyers or restaurant venues in a small or grand scale.
….. a new way of seeing the world
My work is versatile, it can be abstract or figurative, it can be documentary or ambiguous, it can be a small framed piece on a room wall or a large scale piece of wall art found in the reception area of a hotel. My work, because it is taken from all around the world can tie into a multitude of venues around the world linking the hospitality venue to the local culture in a new and exciting perspective.
I am an artist based in Ireland, producing contemporary photographic collages based on built environment. Through my work I am challenging us to see where we live in a new way. My work takes what we know and turns it on its head literally; everybody knows the Eiffel Tower or Il Duomo Florence; but seldom do we actually look at the intricate detail or beauty of our built environment. I want to celebrate the environment we live in by highlighting the details we overlook.
Kevin Hamilton
My work isolates and explores every detail and expands it into a kaleidoscope of colour and pattern, turning the mundane into a new dynamic perspective. I want to encourage people to have a different and positive view of our environment and be proud of where we are. I have studied in minute detail a multitude of landmarks from around the world, photographically mapping the form and surface. Then focusing on small elements have cut and joined the image together creating a symmetrical kaleidoscopic view. Highlighting the beauty in the environment around us, environment that we walk past everyday and ignore or take for granted.
My work can be supplied in a range of formats, from a framed archival print, or a high gloss printed onto acrylic sheets of various sizes, or printed onto lightweight and durable aluminium panels. To arrange viewing appointment email admin@kevinhamiltonartist.com
